The Sign Smith Illustrated Dictionary is a signing dictionary program designed for use by individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing. The program is ASL, SE and fingerspell enabled. Every word in the dictionary is represented by a picture, used in a sentence, and signed by an animated SigningAvatar character. Users can choose from among several characters. If a word has more than one meaning, the user picks which sense of the word is intended. The dictionary includes the 500 signs most commonly included in beginning American Sign Language (ASL) courses. Any word that does not have a sign is fingerspelled by the character. COMPATIBILITY: For use on IBM and compatible computers. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: 300 megahertz (MHz) processor; Windows 98/Me/NT/2000/XP operating system; 64 megabytes (MB) random access memory (RAM); 8 MB AGP graphics/video card; Microsoft Internet Explorer 4 or 5, or Netscape 4.x; CD ROM drive; 1024 x 768 monitor with 16-bit color; 100 MB hard drive space.
