Late veterans recognized with markers

Ripon Commonwealth Press - 5/17/2017

MEMBERS OF RIPON American Legion Post No. 43 and the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) local chapter work together to install U.S. veteran grave markers and flag holders. All told, 90 graves have not been marked as veterans for many years. These graves are from Civil War, World War I and World War II veterans who do not have gravestones provided by the military as a person might see in state and national cemeteries. The Fond du lac County veterans service officer worked with the American Legion in Ripon to provide these grave markers. "The Legion is very thankful that the missing markers was brought to their attention and that we were able to correct this for those veterans, because of the hours of research done by the DAR chapter," said Mike Meeker, commander of the local American Legion post.
