The eighth annual Mental Health Housing Conference on Thursday will boast the man responsible for the Mental Health Service Act.

Former California Assemblyman Darrell Steinberg pioneered the act, which expanded mental health care for adults and children.

The conference, hosted by the Tulare County Health & Human Services Agency Department of Mental Health, is taking place at the Visalia Holiday Inn, 9000 W. Airport Drive, with registration beginning at 7:45 a.m.

Former Assemblyman Bruce Bronzan, president of Trilogy Integrated Resources, is debuting a Web site called Network for Care, which aims to provide online information, communications and advocacy with a single point of entry.

“This new Web site will enable people to find the right service at the right time,” Bronzan said.

The conference features workshops on therapy, housing providers, children and family, and more. There will also be prizes and a fashion show.

Cost is $50 per person, and $35 for consumers, although some scholarships are available for consumers and family members.
